Patient Testimonials

"I was petrified before I came in. ..probably more afraid than most. Dr.Jones and his staff completed a thorough exam of my teeth and gums, followed by a well-explained, DETAILED outcome and plan of action. Completed my second visit today - a very deep cavity needed filling. I was seen right on time and was completely satisfied with the entire process and outcome. I especially appreciated Kelly's ability to assuage my fear and apprehension. Great job all around! - Mildred L.

How can I improve my dental hygiene at home?

Preventive Dental Hygiene | The Dental Group | Lewes, DERegularly visiting the dentist for routine exams and cleanings is essential if you want to maintain a healthy smile, but it is just as important to establish healthy oral hygiene habits while you are away from the dentist’s office.

Our Lewes, DE dental office believes that preventative dental care is a team approach — one where you and your dental treatment team work together to develop your brightest, healthiest smile.

Brush and Floss Mindfully

If you need to improve your dental hygiene habits at home, there are a few places you can start. First, make sure you are brushing at least twice daily. Ideally, this means once in the morning and once in the evening or right before bedtime. Spend equal time brushing all of your teeth, and pull your cheeks back while brushing to help reach your very back molars. Each time you begin brushing, alternate beginning with your top teeth and then with your bottom.

Flossing is equally as crucial as brushing, and a thorough full-mouth floss should be performed at least once per day. As with brushing, alternate beginning with your top and bottom teeth each day. Adding Listerine or another mouthwash to your bedtime routine is another way to promote a healthier smile.

If you are struggling to maintain strong dental hygiene habits, contact our caring Lewes, DE dentist’s office. Our hygienists can provide demonstrations of proper brushing and flossing techniques and give tips on how to better care for your teeth. Our goal is to work with you to help improve your dental hygiene, so call us today!
